Characterizaton of red fruit (Pandanus conoideus Lam) oil
The present study was carried out to characterize red fruit (Pandanus conoideus Lam) oil (RFO) in term of FTIR spectra, fatty acid composition, and volatile compounds. FTIR spectrum of RFO was slightly different from other common vegetable oils and animal fats, in which in the frequency range of 1750 – 1700 cm-1, RFO appear two bands. The main fatty acid composition of RFO is oleic acid account...
متن کاملAntioxidant activity, total phenolic, and total flavaonoid of extracts and fractions of red fruit (Pandanus conoideus Lam)
Red fruit (Pandanus conoideus Lam) is one of the fruits commonly consumed as diet by societies, especially in Papua, Indonesia. Preliminary research revealed that among three extracts of red fruit evaluated, ethyl acetate extract had the highest antiradical activities; therefore, this research was directed to fractionate ethyl acetate extract, evaluate antioxidant activities using in vitro meth...
متن کاملEffects of Ethyl Acetate Extract of Poncirus trifoliata Fruit for Glucocorticoid-Induced Osteoporosis
Poncirus trifoliata fruit (PTF) affects the digestive and cardiovascular systems, and kidney function. The authors studied the effects of ethyl acetate (EtOAc) extract of PTF on the activities of osteoblasts and in an animal model. The main compounds of the EtOAc extract, naringin and poncirin have been confi rmed by HPLC and NMR analysis. Effects of osteoblastic differentiation were mea-sured ...
متن کاملAlternate gram staining technique using a fluorescent lectin.
Fluorescence-labeled wheat germ agglutinin binds specifically to N-acetylglucosamine in the outer peptidoglycan layer of gram-positive bacteria. The peptidoglycan layer of gram-negative bacteria is covered by a membrane and is not labeled by the lectin. By exploiting this phenomenon, an alternative Gram staining technique has been developed.
متن کاملA new technique for Gram staining paraffin-embedded tissue.
Five techniques for Gram staining bacteria in paraffin sections were compared on serial sections of pulmonary tissues from eight bacteriological necropsies. Brown and Hopp's method was the most satisfactory for distinguishing Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. However, this method cannot be recommended as the preparations were frequently overstained, and the Gram-negative bacteria were s...
