چکیده
Abstract Glioblastomas are known to be highly therapy resistant tumors. The description of tumor microtubes (TMs) as long cellular protrusions that connect glioblastoma cells a network against all standard therapies advanced the basic biological understanding disease and offers new therapeutic target. An antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) production protein involved in formation function TMs was developed tested xenograft mouse model human cells. After implantation fluorescent under chronic cranial window establishment tumor, ASO treatment started with continuous micropump application directly into central nervous system (CNS) effects were observed two-photon microscope. Furthermore, co-treatment irradiation size well expression evaluated ex vivo. This led conclusion setup combined pump two photon microscopy is technically feasible tolerable. It possibility applying compounds CNS live longitudinal readouts. fluorescently tagged traced brain parenchyma over weeks proving high stability compound. In combination radiotherapy, animals treated active showed smaller than radiotherapy non-targeting ASO. targeted expressed less then receiving control extend correlated size. Hence, after successful ASOs other neurologic diseases need for better options patients, development an TM option translational potential.

An overview of therapeutic approaches to brain tumor stem cells
Primary and secondary malignant central nervous system (CNS) tumors are devastating invasive tumors able to give rise to many kinds of differentiated tumor cells. Glioblastoma multiform (GBM), is the most malignant brain tumor, in which its growth and persistence depend on cancer stem cells with enhanced DNA damage repair program that also induces recurrence and resists current chemo- and radi...
متن کاملAntisense Oligonucleotide against hTERT (Cantide) Inhibits Tumor Growth in an Orthotopic Primary Hepatic Lymphoma Mouse Model
BACKGROUND Human xenograft models, resulting from orthotopic transplantation (implantation into the anatomically correct site) of histologically intact tissue into animals, are important for investigating local tumor growth, vascular and lymphatic invasion at the primary tumor site and metastasis. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS We used surgical orthotopic transplantation to establish a nude m...

Purpose: To recognize affective factors in delivering X-ray contrast agents (which have high atomic number) via gallium carrier to liver or lymphatic neoplasm cells. Materials and Methods: Since uptake of gallium by liver has been reported in numerous researches, it was bonded with a contrast media (metrizoate). X-ray imaging was done to determine geometric features of liver. Results: Rad...

متن کاملAntimicrobial Photodynamic Therapy: A New Therapeutic Option to Combat Infections
Minimization or elimination of antibiotic resistance in microbial species is an urgent need of the present times. Antimicrobial photodynamic therapy is a new therapeutic option through which development of resistance in microorganisms can be avoided. Interest in the use of photodynamic therapy to combat microbial infection is not only linked to the fact that this technique prevents antibiotic r...
