EXTERNAL FOCUS OF ATTENTION AFFECTS SHOT ACCURACY IN ELITE ARCHERS

The intention of this study was to find out if external focus attention, steering the archers’ on distal movement effects, will provide better shooting accuracy expressed as higher number 10 points and overall result. subject sample consisted elite male archers, with average age 25.8 years. variables derived from observed characteristics entities in different conditions. A measure arrow distance center target face used order estimate precision. testing three conditions: C1- free C2 – internal attention C3 attention. analysis showed that highest results were obtained condition externally oriented (C3), lowest internally (C2). Friedman’s ANOVA did not show statistical differences between conditions, but they found afterwards administered Wilcoxon’s test (p=0.047).
