Extensive Postpartum Upper and Lower Extremity Deep Vein Thrombosis in a Patient With a History of Preeclampsia

We describe the case of a 19-year-old woman with no significant medical history who developed progressive right-sided neck pain and palpitations one month following pregnancy complicated by preeclampsia. Family was for unprovoked deep vein thrombosis (DVT) pulmonary embolism (PE) in her father at age 44. Systemic examination revealed mild swelling right upper extremity on palpation. Computed tomography (CT) thorax contrast demonstrated extensive occlusion veins collateralization chest wall veins. Pulmonary emboli were present bilaterally segmental subsegmental branches lower lobe arteries. CT abdomen thrombi left common external iliac Thrombophilia screening normal. The patient treated enoxaparin ampicillin/sulbactam. Her clinical condition improved, she discharged an outpatient clinic follow-up appointment.
