Exposure to Air Pollution in Transport Microenvironments

نویسندگان

چکیده

People spend approximately 90% of their day in confined spaces (at home, work, school or transit). During these periods, exposure to high concentrations atmospheric pollutants can pose serious health risks, particularly the respiratory system. The objective this paper is define a framework existing literature on assessment air quality various transport microenvironments. A total 297 papers, published from 2002 2021, were analyzed with respect type microenvironments, monitored, measured and sampling methods adopted. analysis emphasizes increasing interest topic, regarding evaluation moving cars buses. It specifically focuses occupants particulate matter (PM) volatile organic compounds (TVOCs). Concentrations reach several hundreds µg/m3 some cases, significantly exceeding recommended levels. findings presented serve as valuable resource for urban planners decision-makers formulating effective policies.

The contributions of emissions and spatial microenvironments to exposure to indoor air pollution from biomass combustion in Kenya.

Acute and chronic respiratory diseases, which are causally linked to exposure to indoor air pollution in developing countries, are the leading cause of global morbidity and mortality. Efforts to develop effective intervention strategies and detailed quantification of the exposure-response relationship for indoor particulate matter require accurate estimates of exposure. We used continuous monit...

Human exposure to urban air pollution.

This study deals with some methods of making human exposure estimates, aimed at describing the human exposure for selected air pollutants in Sweden that are suspected carcinogens. Nitrogen oxides (NOx) have been chosen as an indicator substance for estimating the concentration of the urban plume. Earlier investigations have shown that the traffic in Swedish cities contributes around 85% to the ...

Exposure to Air Pollution: the Quantified Self

The purpose of this paper is to apply recent developments in the areas of the ‘Quantified Self’ and the ‘Internet of Things’ in order to explore the use of low-cost sensors for the collection of a variety of spatially-referenced biometric and environmental data from participants. This is achieved using a specially designed application on the Android mobile platform, which has been developed for...

Exposure to indoor and outdoor air pollution among children under five years old in urban area

Indoor air pollution associated with cooking and heating biomass fuel burning is estimated to be responsible for 7 million deaths in 2016 and most of these deaths occur in low and middle income countries. In Côte d'Ivoire, 73% of the population is reported using biomass (charcoal or wood) for cooking. The active device 3M EVM-7 was used to measure PM2.5 daily average concentrations i...
