متن کاملNeutrino-Accelerated Hot Hydrogen Burning
We examine the effects of significant electron anti-neutrino fluxes on hydrogen burning. Specifically, we find that the bottleneck weak nuclear reactions in the traditional pp-chain and the hot CNO cycle can be accelerated by anti-neutrino capture, increasing the energy generation rate. We also discuss how anti-neutrino capture reactions can alter the conditions for break out into the rp-proces...
متن کاملCross section predictions for hydrostatic and explosive burning
We review different models used for reactions involved in nuclear astrophysics. The reaction rate is defined for resonant as well as for non-resonant processes. For low-density nuclei, we describe the DWBA method, the potential model, the R-matrix method, and microscopic cluster models. The statistical model is developed for high-level densities. Details of calculations in the low-and high-dens...
متن کاملBound Electron Screening Corrections to Reactions in Hydrogen Burning Processes
We estimate the bare astrophysical S-factor(Sb(E)) of reactions in PP-chains, through a polynomial expression with the adiabatic enhancement factor due to the electron screening. The obtained Sb is significantly different from the simple extrapolation from high energy data, however Sb at zero incident energy is in agreement with the results of a recent R-matrix analysis.

cluding red giants, asymptotic giant branch (AGB) stars, massive stars, and classical novae. In particular, the ratio between reaction rates of 17O(p,α)14N (Q = 1.2 MeV) and 17O(p,γ)18F (Q = 5.6 MeV) channels on 17O is one of the most important parameters for the galactic synthesis of 17O, the stellar production of radioactive 18F, and for predicted O isotopic ratios in presolar grains. The LUN...
