Exploring the Potential of Water-Soluble Cu(II) Complexes with MPA–CdTe Quantum Dots for Photoinduced Electron Transfer

نویسندگان

چکیده

Three water-soluble copper complexes based on the amine/pyridine functionalities were investigated, along with quantum dots, as a catalyst–photosensitizer assembly, respectively, for fundamental understanding of photoinduced electron transfer. Luminescence quenching and lifetime measurements performed to try establish actual process that leads quenching, such transfer, energy or complex formation (static quenching). Cyclic voltammetry dynamic light scattering experiments also performed. Irrespective similar reduction potentials three complexes, very different photoluminescence properties observed.

Energy transfer in complexes of water-soluble quantum dots and chlorin e6 molecules in different environments

The photoexcitation energy transfer is found and investigated in complexes of CdSe/ZnS cationic quantum dots and chlorin e6 molecules formed by covalent bonding and electrostatic interaction in aqueous solution and in porous track membranes. The quantum dots and chlorin e6 molecules form stable complexes that exhibit Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) from quantum dots to chlorin e6 regar...

Water-soluble quantum dots for biomedical applications.

Semiconductor nanocrystals are 1-10nm inorganic particles with unique size-dependent optical and electrical properties due to quantum confinement (so they are also called quantum dots). Quantum dots are new types of fluorescent materials for biological labeling with high quantum efficiency, long-term photostability, narrow emission, and continuous absorption spectra. Here, we discuss the recent...

Photoswitchable quantum dots by controlling the photoinduced electron transfers.

We report photoluminescence (PL) modulation of quantum dots (QDs) by photoinduced electron transfers from acridine-1,8-dione derivative surface ligands. Reversible PL switching upon many repeated cycles was demonstrated, as alternating on and off of the UV excitation for the surface ligand has successfully resulted in the QD PL modulation.

Microwave-enhanced photocatalysis on CdS quantum dots - Evidence of acceleration of photoinduced electron transfer

The rate of electron transfer is critical in determining the efficiency of photoenergy conversion systems and is controlled by changing the relative energy gap of components, their geometries, or surroundings. However, the rate of electron transfer has not been controlled by the remote input of an external field without changing the geometries or materials of the systems. We demonstrate here th...

Quantum dot-bridge-fullerene heterodimers with controlled photoinduced electron transfer.

Molecular electronics has been growing rapidly, to a point where the ambition is to miniaturize conventional electronic devices down to the single-molecule scale. One of the essential components of the future molecular circuits is miniaturized power sources. A few reports have addressed this key issue by using a single nanowire as a low-power source for nanoelectronics, such as a piezoelectric ...
