Exploring the Potential of UAV LiDAR Data for Trunk Point Extraction and Direct DBH Measurement

The accurate measurement of diameter at breast height (DBH) is one the essential tasks for biomass estimation an individual tree scale. This paper aims to explore potential unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) based light detection and ranging (LiDAR) trunk point extraction direct DBH measurement. First, cloud each extracted on UAV LiDAR data by multiscale cylindrical method. Then, directly measured from via ring fitting. Lastly, we analyze influence scanning angle mode results show that proposed method can obtain high accuracy with real (R2 = 0.708) simulated 0.882) data. It proves feasible measure DBH. highest was obtained angles 50 65 degrees.
