Exploring Indonesian EFL teacher-student interactions in online learning

The use of online platforms has been shown to help students engage in learning writing. student’s engagement revising their writing draft can be seen from the interactions between teacher and or among students. This study aims determine teacher-student a class conducted synchronously asynchronously via Google Classroom, Meet, WhatsApp. data were derived teacher’s students’ discussions posted written oral modes applications. A qualitative approach designing gathering was used this study. findings show that raised understanding instruction so engaged drafts them properly. patterns categorised into giving feedback (39%) followed respectively by prescribing editor role (17.7%), promoting individual contributions (13.3%), joint construction meaning form (11%), thanking praising (10%), guiding through steps (5.7%) stimulating (3.3%). Students’ responses toward interaction depend on talk. There is no initiative start discussion. background as freshmen cause this; first-year may not brave enough suggests exploring different backgrounds necessary.
