Experimental Study on the Negative Skin Friction of Piles in Collapsible Loess

The collapsible loess is widely distributed in western China. special structure and water sensitivity of lead to the complex negative skin friction mechanism pile foundations. Previous studies mainly focused on foundations treatment measures, such as casing coating methods. However, few have influence settlement bearing capacity piles loess, especially environmentally friendly methods that can reduce friction. In this study, a series non-immersion immersion experiments was conducted investigate settlement, axial force, side resistance soil under controlled conditions. results showed condition, model increased with increasing top load. force gradually decreased along length for without casing. attenuation section almost negligible due isolating frictional effect each layer increase time, process divided into an initial gradual stage, rapid drop later stage.
