Experimental study on the cytocompatibility of milling surface of poly-ether-ether-ketone (PEEK)

Poly-ether-ether-ketone (PEEK) is widely used in biomedical science because of its biocompatibility. However, the material biologically inert. Many works have showed potentiality surface modification technique to enhance biological performance, such as coating and impregnating bioactive materials into substrate. Even so, these techniques are low efficiency or inapplicable processing parts with complex structure. This thesis presents an experimental work milling for PEEK, impact on response addressed. First, influence parameters machined topography features discussed based Taguchi method end experiments. And then, effect viability fibroblasts investigated by using cells from a mouse fibroblast L929 agar overlay test, MTT test. The result indicated that there certain (characterized Ssk = 0.011), which ensures highest possible viability, but significant decrease started roughness Sa 1.18 μm. axial radial depths cut two most critical factors affect parameters.
