Experimental study on fluid flow behaviors of waterflooding fractured-vuggy oil reservoir using two-dimensional visual model

The carbonate reservoir plays a pivotal role in conventional oil and gas reservoirs. However, due to limited knowledge of fluid flow characteristics fractured-vuggy formations (vuggy means small medium-sized cavity inside rock), high efficiency development remains challenging. In this study, the similarity principle is utilized design two-dimensional visual model based on geological data injection-production M Oilfield. To investigate oil–water flow, interface, residual distribution, flooding experiments are conducted at various positions, types, injection rates. results suggest that low injection/high production strategy optimal for achieving maximum recovery. As consequence, configuration employed subsequent experiments. recovery 82.2% attained via pore vug production. Jamin effect exerts an influence oil-water structures connected by channels bottom large vugs, necessitating adjustment rate achieve conditions. variation interface height each structural flaws suboptimal overall approximately 30% below 8 ml/min but can be enhanced over 70% with higher exceeding ml/min. typically found tops peripheral areas poor connectivity. findings study offer direction reservoirs facilitate more comprehensive comprehension flows within reservoir.
