Experimental p-y curves for liquefied soils from centrifuge tests

چکیده

The present study aims to obtain p-y curves (Winkler spring properties for lateral pile-soil interaction) liquefied soil from 12 comprehensive centrifuge test cases where pile groups were embedded in liquefiable soil. curve fully is back-calculated the dynamic data using a numerical procedure recorded response and strain records instrumented pile. obtained two ground conditions: (a) spreading of soil, (b) level ground. These conditions are simulated model by having collapsing non-collapsing intermittent boundaries, which modelled as quay walls. tests compared with representative reduced API soils (known p-multiplier). at full liquefaction presented critical observations interaction discussed. Based on results these tests, guidance construction use engineering practice also provided.

Construction of simplified design p–y curves for liquefied soils

In practice, laterally loaded piles are most often analysed using a ‘beam-on-non-linear-Winklerfoundation’ approach, whereby the soil–structure interaction is modelled by means of p–y curves. Although well-calibrated p–y curves exist for non-liquefied soils (e.g. soft clay and sand), the profession still lacks reliable p–y curves for liquefied soils. In fact, the latter should be consistent wit...
