Experimental Investigation on the Performance Characteristics of Flow Fields in Redox Flow Batteries Under Various Electrode Parameters

All-vanadium redox flow battery (VRFB) is a promising energy storage technique. Flow fields play crucial role in distributing the electrolyte into electrode uniformly, but their performance characteristics under different parameters are still unclear. In this work, taking total pressure drop and overpotential as characterizations, influence of operating conditions on serpentine field (SFF) interdigitated (IFF) experimentally investigated. It found that with IFF exhibits lower than SFF because shunt effect electrolyte. terms promoting uniform distribution electrode, outperforms when porosity higher 0.810, could be reversed decreases to 0.714, indicating there may reversal between from 0.810 0.714. Moreover, increase current density, decrease input, thickness strengthen at low porosity. The results well explain debate superiority discussion preference literatures provide guidance for selection optimal VRFBs.
