Experimental dissolution of biopolymer-coated phosphorus fertilizers applied to a soil surface: Impact on soil pH and P dynamics

چکیده
Biopolymer-coated phosphorus fertilizers have shown promising results in slowing the release of P. However, their dissolution behaviour has been studied mainly water, and impacts on soil properties rarely addressed. The aim this study was to compare P from uncoated triple superphosphate (TSP) biopolymer-coated TSP at surface cropped Mediterranean soils evaluate pH distributions several pools. experimental treatments were: no fertilizer, TSP, coated with lignin carrageenan. spatial temporal variations fertilized were investigated using optodes. concentrations different pools (available P, microbial P), total as well recovery distances granules determined. acidified a radius 14 mm around each fertilizer granule, while acidification spread 21 treatment TSP. Moreover, an increase observed treated possibly due carbon input consequent biomass. slower P-release effect coating barrier. showed migration within alone significantly greater than that treatment.

Phosphorus Availability to Barley from Manures and Fertilizers on a Calcareous Soil
High concentrations of animal production in the United States have increased the concern about the environmental fate of phosphorus (P) in manures. We conducted a growth chamber study to develop phosphorus source coefficients (PSCs) for manures and fertilizers typically land applied and incorporated into calcareous soils of the western United States as well as to determine the potential plant P...

Abstract In this work, removal of phenanthrene and acenaphthene, as a representative of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, was investigated from soil samples by the soil washing remediation method combined with Central Composite Design. Response surface methodology was utilized to investigate the individual and interactive effects of three variables of removal process including surfactant solut...

متن کاملEffects of Sulfur Application on Soil pH and Uptake of Phosphorus, Iron and Zinc in Apple Trees
The main reasons for the fixation of some elements and consequently nutrient deficiencies, especially phosphorus, iron and zinc, are high levels of calcium (calcareous soils) and soil pH. Two sulfur fertilizers (sulfur alone and sulfur + organic material + Thiobacillus spp.) with two rates (2 and 4 kg sulfur/tree) were used to decrease soil pH and availability of P, Fe and Zn in apple trees dur...
