چکیده

Nowadays, the use of Digital Image Correlation (DIC) technique has spread and it is being used in several engineering areas to measure displacements. The available data obtained from DIC measurement evaluate bond performance between a Carbon fibre Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) externally bonded timber substrate scarce. From existing with other materials, this contactless revealed be quite useful but its accuracy well-established techniques, such as electric strain gauges not well understood yet. Therefore, current work aims study 2D measurements within low-cost perspective. To that end, CFRP-to-timber joints were tested under single-lap shear test different bonding techniques considered well. Some flaws intrinsically derived complicate assessment, fluctuations generated displacements field, are identified, bypass problem new methodology proposed. This based on two closed-form solutions that, after defining local global behaviours joints, allowed eliminate found measurements, facilitating estimation comprehension full debonding process which was achieved good proximity homologous gauge measurements.

On the Use of Acoustic Emission and Digital Image Correlation for Welded Joints Damage Characterization

A series of tests have been conducted to investigate fatigue damage characterization in corroded welded steel plates using structural health monitoring (SHM) techniques. Acoustic Emission (AE) is a non-destructive testing (NDT) technique with potential applications for locating and monitoring fatigue cracks in service. In the present work, AE is implemented to characterize damage during crack e...

Bond Strength of Composite CFRP Reinforcing Bars in Timber

The use of near-surface mounted (NSM) fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) bars is an interesting method for increasing the shear and flexural strength of existing timber members. This article examines the behaviour of carbon FRP (CFRP) bars in timber under direct pull-out conditions. The objective of this experimental program is to investigate the bond strength between composite bars and timber: bar...

Bond–Slip Relationship for CFRP Sheets Externally Bonded to Concrete under Cyclic Loading

The objective of this paper was to explore the bond-slip relationship between carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) sheets and concrete under cyclic loading through experimental and analytical approaches. Modified beam tests were performed in order to gain insight into the bond-slip relationship under static and cyclic loading. The test variables are the CFRP-to-concrete width ratio, and the b...

Evaluation of kissing bond in composite adhesive lap joints using digital image correlation Preliminary studies

in the bonded region. Nevertheless, they may suffer due to the presence of defects in bond line and at the interface or due to improper curing process. While defects like voids, cracks and delaminations present in the adhesive bond line may be detected using different NDE methods, interfacial defects in the form of kissing bond may go undetected. Attempts using advanced ultrasonic methods like ...
