Experimental and CFD Study on Single Slope Double Basin Solar Still

The shortage of drinkable water in many areas the world represents a fatal problem. desalination saltwater can be solution to this Solar still is simple and reliable system used arid sunny regions, but it has disadvantage relatively low productivity. A new configuration solar still, namely single slope double basin proposed current work increase prototype type was designed, fabricated, tested. Besides, multi-phase, three-dimensional CFD model for mass heat transfer under unsteady conditions such using ANSYS developed. This enabled predicting performance configuration. simulation results were validated with experimental data climate Shebin El-Kom, Egypt (latitude 30.5° N longitude 31.01° E). Within scope study, found good agreement data. daily simulated accumulated productivities 3.148 lit/m2 2.855 water-/equivalent depth 2cm. Also, efficiencies around 27.65% 25%, respectively tested water-/ equivalent depth, whereas reported highest efficiency conventional single-slope 15.5%.
