Expandable Houses: An Explorative Life Cycle Cost Analysis

نویسندگان

چکیده

In addition to the environmental burden of its construction and demolition activities, Flemish housing market faces a structural affordability challenge. As one possible answer, this research explores potential so-called expandable houses, being built increasingly often. Through specific design choices that enable disassembly future reuse individual components so align with idea circular economy, houses promise provide ever-changing homes smaller impact on environment at lower cost for clients. paper, an house suitable various needs is conceived through scenario-based research-by-design approach compared reference Flanders. Subsequently, both life cycle costs are calculated compared. The results exploration support proposition designing can be catalyst sustainable, development households could benefit from social, economic ecological qualities. It requires, however, dynamic perspective evaluating their life-cycle impact.

Integrated Life-Cycle Assessment and Life-Cycle Cost Analysis Model for Concrete Bridge Deck Applications

An integrated life-cycle assessment and life-cycle cost analysis model was developed and applied to enhance the sustainability of concrete bridge infrastructure. The objective of this model is to compare alternative bridge deck designs from a sustainability perspective that accounts for total life-cycle costs including agency, user, and environmental costs. A conventional concrete bridge deck a...
