Exoplanet Statistics and Theoretical Implications
نویسندگان
چکیده
In the past few years, significant advances have been made in understanding distributions of exoplanet populations and architecture planetary systems. We review recent progress planet statistics, with a focus on inner ?1-AU region systems that has fairly thoroughly surveyed by Kepler mission. also discuss theoretical implications these statistical results for formation dynamical evolution.

Exoplanet atmospheres: A theoretical outlook
With over two dozen exoplanet atmospheres observed today, the field of exoplanet atmospheres is solidly established. The highlights of exoplanet atmosphere studies include: detection of molecular spectral features; constraints on atmospheric vertical temperature structure; detection of day-night temperature gradients; and a new numerical approach to atmosphere temperature and abundance retrieva...
متن کاملTheoretical spectra of terrestrial exoplanet surfaces
We investigate spectra of airless rocky exoplanets with a theoretical framework that self-consistently treats reflection and thermal emission. We find that a silicate surface on an exoplanet is spectroscopically detectable via prominent Si–O features in the thermal emission bands of 7–13μm and 15–25μm. The variation of brightness temperature due to the silicate features can be up to 20 K for an...
متن کاملTheoretical Statistics and Asymptotics
Cox and Hinkley’s Theoretical Statistics (1974) was arguably the first modern treatment of the foundations and theory of statistics, and for the past thirty years has served as a unique book for the study of what used to be called mathematical statistics. One of its strengths is the large number of examples that serve not only to illustrate key concepts, but also to illustrate limitations of ma...
متن کاملQuantifying orbital migration from exoplanet statistics and host metallicities
We investigate how the statistical distribution of extrasolar planets may be combined with knowledge of the host stars’ metallicity to yield constraints on the migration histories of gas giant planets. At any radius, planets that barely manage to form around the lowest metallicity stars accrete their envelopes just as the gas disk is being dissipated, so the lower envelope of planets in a plot ...
متن کاملIntrinsic Variability of the Vela Pulsar: Lognormal Statistics and Theoretical Implications
Individual pulses from pulsars have intensity-phase profiles that differ widely from pulse to pulse, from the average profile, and from phase to phase within a pulse. Widely accepted explanations for pulsar radio emission and its time variability do not exist. Here, by analysing data near the peak of the Vela pulsar’s average profile, we show that Vela’s variability corresponds to lognormal fie...
