Exogenous Selenium Treatment Promotes Glucosinolate and Glucoraphanin Accumulation in Broccoli by Activating Their Biosynthesis and Transport Pathways

Supplementation using selenium (Se) on plants is an effective and widely used approach. It can not only be converted to more Se rich compounds but promote the accumulation of glucosinolates (GSLs) with anti-carcinogenic properties. However, molecular mechanism in regulating GSLs synthesis remains unclear. In present study, we analyzed effects treatment (50 ?M sodium selenite) GSLs, glucoraphanin (4MSOB), sulforaphane broccoli tissues. The transcript levels genes involved sulfur absorption transport, biosynthesis, translocation, degradation pathways were also evaluated. study showed that remarkably promoted total contents increased Trp-derived roots by 2 times. 4MSOB concentration content fresh leaves was 67% 30% after treatment, respectively. For expressions, some sulfate uptake transporters, transporters induced strongly upon exposure. Results revealed exogenous promotes overaccumulation activating absorption, translocation pathways.
