چکیده
Lime is an important commercial product in tropical and subtropical regions, where drought stress becoming one of the most severe environmental challenges agricultural sector. Melatonin antioxidant molecule that helps plants regulate their development respond to a variety stresses. In this research, effects exogenous melatonin treatments were evaluated at different concentrations (0, 50, 100, 150 ?M) on biochemical aspects gene expression two species lime (“Mexican lime” “Persian lime”) under normal (100% field capacity (FC)) conditions (75% 40% FC). The experiments factorial based completely randomized design (CRD) with four replicates. Drought caused electrolyte leakage (EL) as well accumulations hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) malondialdehyde (MDA), indicating occurrence damage cellular membranes. contrast, pretreatment various reduced levels EL, H2O2 MDA while mitigating negative species. application (100-?M) significantly increased level proline content activity enzymes compared control plants. According real-time PCR analysis, treatment enhanced genes involved ROS scavenging, biosynthesis, cell redox regulation both species, respective controls. these findings, able detoxify systems, thereby protecting from stress-induced damages.

ROS-mediated abiotic stress-induced programmed cell death in plants
During the course of their ontogenesis plants are continuously exposed to a large variety of abiotic stress factors which can damage tissues and jeopardize the survival of the organism unless properly countered. While animals can simply escape and thus evade stressors, plants as sessile organisms have developed complex strategies to withstand them. When the intensity of a detrimental factor is ...
متن کاملMelatonin protects MG63 osteoblast-like cells from hydrogen peroxide-induced cytotoxicity by maintaining mitochondrial function.
Osteoporosis is a bone disease that has been connected with reactive oxygen species (ROS)-induced cytotoxicity. Mitochondrial dysfunction may be involved in the mechanism underlying ROS-induced cytotoxicity. It has been demonstrated that melatonin may exert cytoprotective effects by improving mitochondrial energetics and functions in several models of oxidative damage. In the present study, the...

Oxidative stress is commonly involved in the pathogenesis of skin damage induced by environmental factors, such as heat stress. Skin fibroblasts are responsible for the connective tissue regeneration and the skin recovery from injury. Aloin, a bioactive compound in Aloe vera, has been reported to have various pharmacological activities, such as anti-inflammatory effects. The aim of this study w...
متن کاملMelatonin; Growth regulator and strong antioxidant in plants
Melatonin (N-acetyl-5-methoxytryptamine) is an indole metabolite derived from tryptophan and synthesized in plant cells in the chloroplasts and mitochondria. Melatonin is present in all plant species, with large variations in its level depending on the plant organ or tissue, it is a molecule endowed with a multitude of functions that make it worthy to be referred to as a plant growth regulator....
