First exit times for compound Poisson dams with a general release rule
An infinite dam with compound Poisson inputs and a statedependent release rate is considered. For this dam, we solve Kolmogorov’s backward differential equation to obtain the Laplace transforms of the first exit times in terms of a certain positive kernel. This allows us to provide an explicit expression for the Laplace transform of the wet period for a finite dam.
متن کاملNEW CRITERIA FOR RULE SELECTION IN FUZZY LEARNING CLASSIFIER SYSTEMS
Designing an effective criterion for selecting the best rule is a major problem in theprocess of implementing Fuzzy Learning Classifier (FLC) systems. Conventionally confidenceand support or combined measures of these are used as criteria for fuzzy rule evaluation. In thispaper new entities namely precision and recall from the field of Information Retrieval (IR)systems is adapted as alternative...

متن کاملidentifying effective criteria on venture capitals exit decision
the venture capitalists are experts in the financing of high-risk and entrepreneurial start-ups. “exit” or “cashing out” is the normal end to any investment. there will come a day when a venture capitalist will want to decide to sell or decrease his shares. this decision is multi-criteria and the research is focused on identifying factors affecting vc’s exit process and attempts to determine th...
متن کاملThe acquisition of Japanese compound accent rule
This paper reports the results of research on the process of acquisition of Japanese compound accent rules by children aged 4-5. The results reveal: 1) Children acquire genera1 rules before they acquire lexical idiosyncratic rules. 2) Children failed to retain the accent of the second element, and instead place an incorrect accent on the penultimate foot. This result suggests that children acqu...
