Excited states mapped by secondary photoemission.
We report on angle-resolved photoemission (ARPES) experiments on Cu(110) using Mg K(alpha) radiation. The secondary emission (SE) fine structure of electrons below 50 eV is found to map the empty band structure relevant for absolute band mapping in ARPES. The finding is based on a direct comparison of our experiments with very low-energy electron diffraction data [Phys. Rev. Lett. 81, 4943 (199...
متن کاملExcited states of 19Mg
We have calculated energies of the first two excited states of 19Mg by using a model that was previously successful for the ground state. Computed excitation energies are 1.12 and 1.54 MeV for (3/2−) and (5/2−), respectively—somewhat in disagreement with values of 1.38 and 2.14 MeV from a recent experiment. متن کاملPolarizability in Excited States
A linear response of a molecule in excited state to an external electric field is discussed in terms of frequency dependent polarizabilities. Results of accurate calculations of polarizabilities of the hydrogen molecule in its b aL: and B lL/ states are presented. The results are compared with other ab initio and model calculations. It is shown that there is no contribution to the polarizabilit...
متن کاملSecondary dust density waves excited by nonlinear dust acoustic waves
Secondary dust density waves were observed in conjunction with high amplitude ðnd=nd0 > 2Þ dust acoustic waves (DAW) that were spontaneously excited in a dc glow discharge dusty plasma in the moderately coupled, C 1; state. The high amplitude dust acoustic waves produced large dust particle oscillations, displacements, and trapping. Secondary dust density waves were excited in the wave troughs ...
متن کاملObservation of a superconducting gap in boron-doped diamond by laser-excited photoemission spectroscopy.
We investigate the temperature (T)-dependent low-energy electronic structure of a boron-doped diamond thin film using ultrahigh resolution laser-excited photoemission spectroscopy. We observe a clear shift of the leading edge below T=11 K, indicative of a superconducting gap opening (Delta approximately 0.78 meV at T=4.5 K). The gap feature is significantly broad and a well-defined quasiparticl...
