Examining Intercultural Interaction in Hong Kong Residential Halls

The integration of non-local students into their host environments and ability to develop meaningful local relationships are concerns for researchers, educators, policymakers. Given the increased diversity higher educational settings, a deeper understanding these topics can help residential halls better accommodate from various cultures, improve students’ experiences, enhance with peers. Research on issues has focused mainly Western universities; this study aims explore acculturation dynamics education through focus-group interviews 14 Mainland Chinese undergraduates living in Hong Kong. findings reveal that although experience engender interpersonal conflict, it also foster intercultural interaction, build sense belonging, create conditions overcoming barriers difficulties. indicate future programmes adjustment outcomes by creating more welcoming environment students.
