چکیده
Abstract. Atmospheric particles have several impacts on health and the environment, especially in urban areas. Parts of those are not fresh undergone atmospheric chemical physical processes. Due to a lack representativeness experimental conditions artifacts such as particle wall losses chambers, there uncertainties effects processes (condensation, nucleation coagulation) their role evolution from modern vehicles. This study develops new method correct losses, accounting for size dependence experiment-to-experiment variations. It is applied diesel exhaust characterize which they undergo. The correction based black carbon decay size-dependent coefficient distributions. Six passenger cars, Euro 3 6, were driven chassis dynamometer with Artemis Urban cold start Motorway cycles. Exhaust was injected an 8 m3 chamber Teflon walls. characterized during 6 10 h. Increase mass observed even without photochemical reactions due presence intermediate-volatility organic compounds semi-volatile compounds. These quantified at emission induce increase up 17 % h−1, mainly older vehicles (Euro 4). Condensation 4 times faster when available surface multiplied by 6.5. If initial number concentration below [8–9] × 104 cm−3, mode seems be present but measured scanning mobility sizer (SMPS). growth nucleation-mode results [PN]. Above this threshold, decreases coagulation, −27 h−1. Under conditions, setup well suited characterizing quantifying process coagulation.

Emissions of Nitrogen Dioxide from Modern Diesel Vehicles
The traditional on-road emissions remote sensing technique has been enhanced with the ability to monitor not only CO, CO2, HC and NO, but also SO2, NH3 and NO2. Modern diesel powered vehicles, particularly in Japan and Europe are equipped with diesel particle filters (DPFs). These traps are frequently designed to be self regenerating by means of a prior catalytic oxidation of the exhaust NO to ...

Diluted exhaust from selected military aircraft ground-support equipment (AGE) was analyzed for particulate mass, elemental carbon (EC) and organic carbon (OC), SO4(2-), and size distributions. The experiments occurred at idle and load conditions and utilized a chassis dynamometer. The selected AGE vehicles operated on gasoline, diesel, and JP-8. These military vehicles exhibited concentrations...
متن کاملPCDD/F emissions from light-duty diesel vehicles operated under highway conditions and a diesel-engine based power generator.
PCDD/F emissions from three light-duty diesel vehicles--two vans and a passenger car--have been measured in on-road conditions. We propose a new methodology for small vehicles: a sample of exhaust gas is collected by means of equipment based on United States Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) method 23 A for stationary stack emissions. The concentrations of O2, CO, CO2, NO, NO2 and SO2 ...

Epidemiological studies have demonstrated an association between different levels of air pollution and various health outcomes including mortality, exacerbation of asthma, chronic bronchitis, respiratory tract infections, ischaemic heart disease and stroke. Of the motor vehicle generated air pollutants, diesel exhaust particles account for a highly significant percentage of the particles emitte...
متن کاملExhaust Emissions and Performance of Diesel Engines with Biodiesel Fuels
The use of biodiesel fuels derived from vegetable oils or animal fats as a substitute for conventional petroleum fuel in diesel engines is receiving an increasing amount of attention. This interest is based on a number of properties of biodiesel including the fact that it is produced from a renewable resource, its biodegradability, and its potential to reduce exhaust emissions. Transient exhaus...
