Evolution of vortex structures in an open deep cavity under pulsatile flow conditions: An experimental study

چکیده

Experiments have been conducted to investigate the vortex dynamics in a deep open cavity driven by pulsatile flows. Physiological flow waveforms examined for mean Re ranging from 200 1000 and Wo of 10.2, 12.4, 17.6, with Strouhal numbers (Str, as function Wo) 0.065 0.98. Results show that two-primary-vortex system develops, similar steady flow, but it exhibits more dynamic behaviors evolves during cycle. Five stages evolution are defined: generation, traveling, merging, stretching, weakening. As increases, first three occur faster earlier cycle, allowing time top primary interact rear wall bottom develop. The opposite trend is found increases. While strength increases Re, patterns correlated Str, which proportional square inversely Re: vortices symmetric at low become distorted high Str. A critical Str exists beyond would not develop inside cavity. also suggest an increasing causes significant increase in-cavity unsteadiness compared Re. peak occurs later phase main flow. normalized mass flux ratio kinetic energy both linearly number.

development and implementation of an optimized control strategy for induction machine in an electric vehicle

in the area of automotive engineering there is a tendency to more electrification of power train. in this work control of an induction machine for the application of electric vehicle is investigated. through the changing operating point of the machine, adapting the rotor magnetization current seems to be useful to increase the machines efficiency. in the literature there are many approaches wh...

Experimental realization of an open cavity

The design and experimental demonstration of an open cavity in the microwave region is presented. The resonance condition is achieved through the cancellation of lightpaths in positive and negative refractive index materials. The positive index material is a structured aluminium surface supporting a spoof surface plasmon mode, and the negative index material is a photonic crystal made of alumin...

Poincaré Section Analysis of an Experimental Frequency Intermittency in an Open Cavity Flow

Open flows over a cavity present, even at medium Reynolds number, sustained oscillations resulting from a complex feedback process [1]. Previous works have reveals a mode-switching phenomenon which remains to characterize from a dynamical point of view. In the configuration here investigated, the intermittency between the two dominant modes is characterized using a symbolic dynamics based appro...

Flow Field Characterization inside an Arteriovenous Graft- To-vein Anastomosis under Pulsatile Flow Conditions

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the distribution of turbulence intensity and the localization of stenoses inside the venous anastomosis of arteriovenous (A-V) grafts. Turbulent flow measurements were conducted inside an upscaled end-to-side graft model under pulsatile flow condition. The pulsatile flow waveforms had maximum, minimum and mean Reynolds number...
