The water scarcity that Iraq suffers from and the low irrigation efficiency in projects, therefore, it was necessary to evaluate performance of system western canal for Ishaqi project Salah al-Din Governorate determine management strategies can be used improve project. field evaluated on two fields different crops methods according agricultural reality study area Western Al-Ishaqi Irrigation Project Al-Din Governorate. fieldwork included measurements moisture content before after irrigation, capacity, measuring inflow each using a venturi flume find discharge inside depth root during growing season. showed actual average application W1, which is irrigated with Border 36.1%, W2, furrow 26.8%. As distribution efficiency, W1 W2 about 98.8% 98.4%, respectively. Field conveyance 93.1%. overall 28.3%. results this evaluation conducted t revealed farmers are more than required, resulting large amount loss by deep permeation observed due inefficient use, poor schedule, lack knowledge skills sufficient have managing water.
