Evaluation of welding-induced residual stress and distortion in A-TIG welding of duplex stainless steel

Applying non-uniform heat in welding causes residual stress and distortion, which affects the life of components. In present study, distortion Duplex 2205 stainless steel A-TIG were investigated numerically experimentally. The optimal parameters for highest penetration depth welded samples obtained Uncoupled thermal-mechanical analysis using ABAQUS 2017 software has been done. Goldak's measured by empirical tests. results include simulation diagrams four consisting sample without flux powder three with depth. show that a higher maximum temperature lower welding-induced distortions. efficiency used this research changes not powder; it is concluded that, similar conditions welding, fewer values are needed to achieve appropriate result comparing conventional TIG. workpieces should be considered about 20% have numerical modeling showed good agreement experimental data both distribution distortion. pieces TIG increased 11% at farthest point from line. error between 12 34%.
