Evaluation of the Antioxidant and Antibiofilm Activities of Rosmarinus Officinalis Essential Oil Extract

Biological activities of essential oils from various plants, including Rosemary, have been attributed to thepresence specific chemical compounds with antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities.The aim this study is estimate the antifungal activity Rosmarinus officinalis essentialoil extract. The included extraction oil using a Clevenger apparatus. chemicalcompositions were evaluated by GC-MS High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC).Therosemary extract was tested regard utilizing 2, 2- diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH) assay. Microtiter plate Assay used determine antibiofilm activity. resultshowed that analysis revealed major components determined in R. linalool (17.09 %), L- Borneol (11.92 Verbenone (8.52 camphor (5.30 Eucalyptol(4.79 while compositions identified HPLC shows four phenolic acids identifiedin oil, Rosmarinic acid, Caffeic p-Coumaric 4-hydroxybenzoic lignans(medioresinol), Isorhamnetin only flavonol detected. free radicals scavenging activityincreased gradually increase concentration which 81.59 % whencompared BHT V.C (92.34 97.42) respectively. results revealedthat Minimum Inhibitory Concentration C. albicans krusei 3.125%, MIC C.glabrata 12.5% contrast highest recorded for tropicalis at 25% rosemaryessential oil. current reduction bofilm formation among andC. obvious lower (1.56%), where percentage biofilm inC. (91.25%) (84.25%), exhibit (86.32%) biofilmreduction (12.5%) rosemary also it found effect on glabrata concentrations 3.125% 6.25%. findings studyindicated significant against growth theimportant pathogenic yeast low concentrations.
