Evaluation of the Antimicrobial Resistance of Different Serotypes of Salmonella enterica from Livestock Farms in Southern Italy

The antimicrobial susceptibility profiles of Salmonella spp. isolated from livestock production systems in Sicily were determined. antibiotic sensitivity and broad-spectrum beta-lactamase strains assessed by detecting β-lactamases blaCTX-M IV, TEM, OXA SHV, blaCMY II, CTX-M I, DHA. In total, 93.3% showed multi-drug resistance (MDR). A total seven serotypes (i.e., Infantis, S. Typhimurium (monophasic), Derby, Hadar, salamae, houtenae, Cardoner) high values (R) (100–47%) to sulfonamides, tetracyclines, diaminopyrimidines, penicillins, quinolones. gene for β-lactamase blaTEM was found (monophasic) swine meat feces samples; Hadar an insect sample; salamae abrasive sponge on skin; houtenae chicken skin Cardoner a sample.
