Evaluation of surface grinding of AISI 304 stainless steel using dry and compressed air cooling techniques

Abstract The abundant use of cutting fluids in surface grinding process and the corresponding costs energy consumption have been a major sustainability concern. This paper identified optimum depth cut for under controlled parameters using compressed air cooling technique dry cutting. morphology subsurface defects workpiece material (AISI 304 stainless steel) were measured compared. It was observed that lower had better than higher cut. effects on tool life equally evaluated. heat dissipations wheels analysed both conditions. In addition, influence integrity also investigated. results showed proved to quality compared
