چکیده
Abstract Watershed rangelands in Northern Afghanistan provide various ecosystem services that support the local people’s livelihoods, but they are now highly degraded essentially due to continuous high grazing pressure and recurrent droughts. Effects of shrub establishment method enhanced by water harvesting techniques rehabilitate have not been well addressed. The main goal this study was evaluate impact direct seeding transplanting seedlings combination with semi-circular bunds on growth, yield, survival rate four species ( Atriplex halimus, nummularia, lentiformis, Maireana brevifolia ) under semi- arid conditions Sayyad village, Khulm watershed. Survival (%), plant height, width, length (cm) cover (%) were measured for each over five occasions. A non-destructive reference unit used estimate biomass production. results showed growth attributes production shrubs consistently greater compared seeding. On average, length, volume, cover, transplanted than direct-seeded 24.3%, 8.6%, 8.7%, 121.5%, 13.8% 34.1%, respectively. Biomass highest A. nummularia (1313.5 g DM/plant) halimus (800 DM/plant). There a strong correlation between volume R 2 Plant = 0.88) , indicating is key variable assessing species. Additionally, M. 100% both planting methods, suggesting based better halophytic has great potential when restoring rangelands. Collectively, basis rates, survival, may enhance contribute rehabilitation sloping semi-arid areas Afghanistan.

Evaluation of rainwater harvesting systems performance in runoff production and in grape yields
Low rainfall and its poor distribution in the West Azerbaijan province have hampered agricultural production in dry-land. One of the important solutions in this regard is converting rainfall into runoff. In this study, a field experiment in Khoshalan village of Urmia on grapes in rainfed conditions with supplementary irrigation and rainwater harvesting was carried out in a split-plot design bas...
متن کاملRole of rainwater harvesting for improving the human well-being and ecosystem services
Ecosystem services are fundamental for human well-being and are the basis of rural livelihoods, particularly for poor people. Rainwater harvesting can serve as an opportunity to enhance ecosystem productivity, thereby improving livelihoods, human well-being, and economies. Rainwater harvesting has been shown to create synergies between landscape management and human well-being. These synergi...

Abstract Lack of stored soil moisture is an essential factor in intensification of the problems of arid and semi-arid areas in Kohgiloyeh va Boyerahmad Province. In these areas, limited surface water and groundwater have rendered vast areas of the region’s fertile lands useless. Despite these problems, appropriate conditions can be provided to plant resistant and adapted species such as olive...
