Evaluation of Phytoremediation Potential of Vetiver Grass (Chrysopogon zizanioides (L.) Roberty) for Wastewater Treatment

Water pollution is one of the most critical global issues. Meanwhile, problem water rivers especially in Iran rising due to expansion agricultural and industrial applications. Due a large number sewer catchments, there are some dam reservoirs like ZHAVE Iranian state Kurdistan that have not been able collect significant amount since last 10 years. Removal heavy metals as contaminants from runoffs recycling necessity vital issue world. Various methods standards invented used isolate remove all types pollutants. This study focuses on purification removal sources using phytoremediation method by introducing Vetiver grass species case floating treatment wetland (FTW). study’s preliminary purpose investigate practical remedial solution improvement methodology for quality growing island method. The results show following parameters such COD 97%, TN 90%, phosphorus 66%, TDS 26%, evapotranspiration 40% were reduced. Therefore, we concluded wastewater with varying neutrient concentrations dam, concentration nutrients N P was controlled consequently inhibition prevention eutrophication resources medium long term became possible reduction rate evaporation reservoirs.
