چکیده

Background/Aim: Anatomical variations of paranasal sinuses are common and play an role in disrupting the drainage sinuses, which often causes chronic sinusitis. In this article, anatomical its relationship with mucosal changes were evaluated retrospectively by cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is also known as dental volumetric tomography. Material Methods: CBCT data 500 patients who applied to Cukurova University Faculties Dentistry for any reason maxillofacial radiologist. variants included study. Mucosal thickening greater than 2 mm maxillary sinus was considered pathological. Results: The most anatomic variation study nasal septal deviation, found 302 (60.4%) patients. least lower concha pneumatization 3 (0.6%) observed 271 (54.2%) cases right 260 (52%) left (p>0.05). Conclusions: Nasal septum deviation According results our study, bullosa, haller cell uncinate process had no definite effect on sinus.

Anatomic variations of sphenoid sinus from Cone Beam Computed Tomography images in the Iranian population

Aims: Sphenoid sinus is one of the most inaccessible paranasal sinus, and is closely correlated to many vascular and neural structures. Anatomic variation of the sphenoid sinus can complicate surgery in this area. The aim of the present investigation was to define the sphenoid sinus variations and the relevant structures using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Methods: This cross-sectiona...

Paranasal sinus pathoses on cone beam computed tomography

PURPOSE The aim of this study was to investigate paranasal sinus pathoses detected on cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) in an adult population. PATIENTS AND METHODS Three observers retrospectively inspected 353 consecutive CBCT scans obtained in a dentomaxillofacial radiology department for paranasal sinus pathoses. Descriptive statistics and chi-square tests were used to determine the pre...

Evaluation of Anatomical Variations of Nasal Cavity and Paranasal Sinuses with Cone Beam Computed Tomography

Material and Method: In this study, 251 patients’ nasal cavities and paranasal sinuses were evaluated using CBCT (Newtom 5G, Verona Italy) images in terms of anatomical variations. The high-resolution (voxel and slice thickness: 0.2 mm) multiplanar reformatting images (MPR) were used for the evaluation of the variations. Results: The most common anatomical variation of nasal cavity and paranasa...

Evaluation of the Association of Sinus Mucosal Thickening with Dental and Periodontal Status Using Cone Beam Computed Tomographic Imaging

Introdouction: Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) is a relatively new three-dimensional imaging technology, which has been widely used in dental and maxillofacial imaging. Materials and methods: CBCT scans of 506 maxillary sinuses of 253 individuals (39.9% male and 60.1% female) were evaluated retrospectively for assessing the relationship between sinus mucosal thickening (MT) and dental a...

Evaluation of neurovascular anatomical variations in maxillary anterior region in cone beam computed tomography images

Introduction: Incisive foramen in the maxilla is the oral terminus of the nasopalatine canal. This region is important in implantology, Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the  neurovascular anatomical variations in the maxillary anterior region, observed on cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) images. Materials &Methods: In this cross-sectional study, maxillary CBCT ima...
