چکیده

This study aimed at evaluating natural radioactivity and radiation hazards of soils around a petroleum product marketing company due to anthropogenic influences using gamma ray spectrometry. Top (5 cm deep) were collected from diverse locations inside the premises Company standard analytical technique, while control samples acquired approximately 200 m area. Mean activity concentrations radionuclides in test 89.36 Bq/kg for 40K, 92.1 238U 10.95 232Th, which are more than that with statistically significant differences. Assessment radiological levels oil-contaminated done internal hazard index, external annual gonadal dose equivalent, effective rate, radium total absorbed rate representative level index (IŸ). The results showed mean equivalent soil (0.46 mSv/yr) fell below permissive limit (1.0 mSv/yr). (0.55 Bq/kg) (0.30 values less minimum permissible (1.0). value (358.46 µSvy-1) was close world average 300 µSvy-1, (0.78) also unity. Estimated (114.65 370 Bq/kg, samples. Though exhibited low radiation, however lengthy term exposure may pose an inherent cancerous ill-health. It is vital repeat this investigation periodically avert precarious effects influences; indiscriminate discarding oils should be discouraged.

Measurement of Natural Radioactivity in Brick samples of Namakkal, Tamilnadu, India using Gamma-ray Spectrometry

In India, bricks as building materials are mainly prepared by clay using the deposited sediments of rivers, and the radionuclide contents in bricks and brick-making clays should vary with origin and geological condition. Primordial radionuclides in building materials are one of the sources of radiation hazard in dwellings made of these materials. It is important to measure the natural radioacti...

Determination of the natural radioactivity levels in north west of Dukhan, Qatar using high-resolution gamma-ray spectrometry.

This study is aimed at the determination of the activity concentrations of naturally occuring and technologically enhanced levels of radiation in 34 representative soil samples that have been collected from an inshore oil field area which was found to have, in a previous study, the highest observed value of 226Ra concentration among 129 soil samples. The activity concentrations of 238U and 226R...

Gamma Radiation Measurement due to Natural Radioactivity in Hot Water Spring of Behbahan

Introduction: Many people use hot water springs to treat some diseases, such as rheumatism, arthritis, and skin diseases, but they are unaware of the presence of natural radioactive substances that may be found in hot water springs. An effective way to understand the radiation risk of these elements are measuring the dose rate of radiation. In this study, for the first time, ga...
