چکیده

Aims: To evaluate newly improved maize varieties for fall armyworm and stem borer resistance determine the relationship among traits increased productivity in a rainforest location Nigeria.
Study Design: The experiments were laid out 10 x triple lattice design with three replications Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) four replicates.
Place Duration of Study: Field conducted during late seasons 2018 2019 at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Research Farm, Ile Ife, Osun State, Methodology: Hundred evaluated season resistance, while ten borers resistant 2019. Data collected on emergence, flowering, vegetative, armyworm, grain yield traits. subjected to analysis variance (ANOVA), descriptive statistics, correlation cluster Analysis.
Results: Differential responses observed all evaluated. Fall trait was be negatively correlated emergence percentage ear number positively flowering moisture content. Furthermore, results from evaluation indicated varietal differences percentage, plant height, height kernel number. Stand count, weight per plot, content had significant positive days tasseling silking row negative yield.
 Conclusion: best F2SCA 1413-36, ACR. 06 TZL COMP. 3C4 2013 TZEE-W POP STR 6.01 tons/ha, 5.11 4.87 tons/ha respectively that TZBR Comp 1 –W C2 Ama TZBR-W C4 3.7 tons/hectare 3.5 respectively.

Cry1F Resistance in Fall Armyworm Spodoptera frugiperda: Single Gene versus Pyramided Bt Maize

Evolution of insect resistance to transgenic crops containing Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) genes is a serious threat to the sustainability of this technology. However, field resistance related to the reduced efficacy of Bt maize has not been documented in any lepidopteran pest in the mainland U.S. after 18 years of intensive Bt maize planting. Here we report compelling evidence of field resistan...

Investigating the Molecular Mechanisms of Organophosphate and Pyrethroid Resistance in the Fall Armyworm Spodoptera frugiperda

The fall armyworm Spodoptera frugiperda is an economically important pest of small grain crops that occurs in all maize growing regions of the Americas. The intensive use of chemical pesticides for its control has led to the selection of resistant populations, however, to date, the molecular mechanisms underlying resistance have not been characterised. In this study the mechanisms involved in t...
