چکیده

Dynamic loads such as earthquakes can cause major failure to soil, and the foremost of these is soil liquefaction. In engineering studies, liquefaction analyses be performed by different methods based on results field laboratory experiments. this study, potential soils Batman settlement zone, located close East Anatolian Fault Zone in Türkiye, was evaluated. study area, Meydan site consists low-medium plasticity clay (CL) at a depth 1.5–3 m silty sand (SM) 3.5–12.45 m; Bahçelievler 1.5–7 7–15 m. For analysis, magnitudes accelerations design earthquake were selected 0.30 g for accelerations, 7.5 6.5 magnitudes. purpose, effects parameters evaluated using standard penetration test (SPT) shear wave velocity (Vs) with Microsoft Excel-based SoilEngineering program obtained correlated discussed. It emphasized work that provide more reliable results. addition, strata locations where risk high found have total approximately 36.87 36.2 cm, parallel risk, it determined there may area.

Validation and application of empirical shear wave velocity models based on standard penetration test

Shear wave velocity is a basic engineering tool required to define dynamic properties of soils. In many instances it may be preferable to determine Vs indirectly by common in-situ tests, such as the Standard Penetration Test. Many empirical correlations based on the Standard Penetration Test are broadly classified as regression techniques. However, no rigorous procedure has been published for c...

soil liquefaction assessment of earthquake using the shear wave velocity (a case study in ardabil city)

1. introduction as the pressure of porous water increases in sand soils and saturated loose layers during an earthquake, the soil tendency to reduce its own volume leads to a decrease in the soil’s multifaceted tension. this way, the shear strength of the soil strongly decreases and comes close to zero. this phenomenon is called liquefaction. soil liquefaction is the cause of much destruction o...

Shear-Wave Velocity–Based Probabilistic and Deterministic Assessment of Seismic Soil Liquefaction Potential

Shear-wave velocity (Vs) offers a means to determine the seismic resistance of soil to liquefaction by a fundamental soil property. This paper presents the results of an 11-year international project to gather new Vs site data and develop probabilistic correlations for seismic soil liquefaction occurrence. Toward that objective, shear-wave velocity test sites were identified, and measurements m...
