چکیده
ABSTRACT Objectives: Evaluate the reliability and reproducibility of kyphosis measurement in thoracolumbar spine traumatic fractures by different assessment methods types fractures. Methods: Fifteen spine, previously classified into A, B, C according to Magerl’s classification, were evaluated. The value was measured using five methods: (1) Cobb angle; (2) Gardner’s method; (3) back wall (4) angle adjacent endplates; (5) wedge angle. measurements performed independent observers repeated times with a minimum interval two weeks between each evaluation. Results: Intraobserver excellent among observers, evidencing good methods. used also showed great intraobserver global analysis, one four being more consistent. Conclusion: Although there is no universal agreement on measuring fractures, our study concluded that method 1 (Cobb angle) 4 (adjacent endplate presented best interobserver reliabilities. Furthermore, use digitized radiographs simple computer program allowed performance highly reliable reproducible all methods, given high reliability. Level Evidence II; Comparative study.

متن کاملInfantile developmental thoracolumbar kyphosis with segmental subluxation of the spine.
We report five children who presented at the mean age of 1.5 years (1.1 to 1.9) with a progressive thoracolumbar kyphosis associated with segmental instability and subluxation of the spine at the level above an anteriorly-wedged hypoplastic vertebra at L1 or L2. The spinal deformity appeared to be developmental and not congenital in origin. The anterior wedging of the vertebra may have been sec...
متن کاملAssessment of corelation between spinal canal shape and spinal cord injury in thoracolumbar spine fractures
Traumatic spinal cord injury is one of the important causes of disability.in some of vertebral fractures, spinal canal is deformed and compromised.the relationship between the shape of the cervical canal and spinal cord hnjury has been proved but such a correlation for thoraculombar spine 50 patients with compromised canal(cases) and 50 oatients with intact canal were evaluated in the light of s...
متن کاملFunctional Outcomes of Thoracolumbar Junction Spine Fractures
Introduction Few studies have evaluated the functional outcomes of traumatic thoracic and lumbar vertebral body fractures. This study evaluated the functional and clinical outcomes of patients, who sustained a fracture to the thoracolumbar area of the spine (T10 to L2 region), with ≥ 25° kyphosis versus those with less kyphotic curvature. Methods The trauma registry records of two level 1 tra...
متن کاملThoracolumbar spine fractures: is there a problem?
Every physician who treats injured patients has a responsibility to detect and appropriately manage thoracolumbar spinal column injuries. Fractures of the thoracolumbar spine are relatively common, so clinicians must give them every consideration both to protect from secondary spinal cord injury and to appreciate the extent of the patient's injuries. Other extraspinal as well as noncontiguous i...
