چکیده
Abstract. We investigate the ability of Weather Research and Forecasting model to perform large-eddy simulation canonical flows. This is achieved through comparison outputs with measurements from sonic anemometers on a 250 m meteorological mast located at Østerild, in northern Denmark. Østerild flat rough area, for predominant wind directions, atmospheric flow can be considered close homogeneous. The idealized simulated flows aim representing boundary layer turbulence under unstable, neutral, stable stability conditions surface, which are statistically significant observed Østerild. found that resolved fields simulations appear have characteristics three regimes. Vertical profiles mean speeds direction well reproduced by simulations, largest differences near-neutral conditions, where effect subgrid-scale evident vertical shear surface. eddy fluxes also velocity component variances although nearly always within variability. With regards turbulent kinetic energy, we find good agreement between observations all levels. Simulated spectra match very show similar behavior height low-frequency interval; effective resolution, typical drop-off finite differences. Our findings demonstrate these reproduce regimes often high site sector, air over homogeneous land.

متن کاملSimulations over South Asia using the Weather Research and Forecasting model with Chemistry (WRF-Chem): set-up and meteorological evaluation
The configuration and evaluation of the meteorology is presented for simulations over the South Asian region using the Weather Research and Forecasting model coupled with Chemistry (WRF-Chem). Temperature, water vapor, dew point temperature, zonal and meridional wind components, precipitation and tropopause pressure are evaluated against radiosonde and satellite-borne (AIRS and TRMM) observatio...
متن کاملSimulations over South Asia using the Weather Research and Forecasting model with Chemistry (WRF-Chem): chemistry evaluation and initial results
This study presents annual simulations of tropospheric ozone and related species made for the first time using the WRF-Chem model over South Asia for the year 2008. The model-simulated ozone, CO, and NOx are evaluated against ground-based, balloon-borne and satellite-borne (TES, OMI and MOPITT) observations. The comparison of model results with surface ozone observations from seven sites and CO...

As computing capabilities expand, operational and research environments are moving toward the use of finescale atmospheric numerical models. These models are attractive for users who seek an accurate description of small-scale turbulent motions. One such numerical tool is the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model, which has been extensively used in synoptic-scale and mesoscale studies. A...
