Evaluation of flying caching servers in UAV-BS based realistic environment

The dramatic growth of data traffic during the past decade has challenged wireless networks to provide new mechanisms support such demand. Fast deployable supported by Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) are a promising solution, especially in crowded scenarios with high peaks traffic. Nevertheless, mounting Base Station (BS) on UAVs (UAV-BSs) raises several challenges like saturation backhaul (BH) link, needed for communication between them and Core Network (CN). In this work, issue is addressed usage Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC) technology, consisting placement servers, providing computing platforms storage, directly at edge these networks, e.g. UAV-BSs. particular, we consider portion Radio Access (RAN) composed UAV-BSs, equipped servers that caching capability. performance evaluated, using realistic demand, different characteristics, capacity cache server users' density. Simulation results reveal MEC prevents BH network saturation, since case requested content locally cached, not used. As consequences, user coverage access increase up 33% 70%, respectively experienced delay drops 30%.
