Evaluation of Butt Joint Produced by a Hot-Wire CO2 Arc Welding Method

The purpose of this study was to develop a high-efficiency and low-heat-input CO2 arc-welding process using hot-wire feeding. A previous paper showed that the proposed has potential simultaneously achieve both high efficiency low heat input. This investigated production sound joint with only two welding passes on butt 20mm-thick steel plates no defects or unstable phenomena developed process. Welding condition optimization high-speed imaging cross-sectional observations. optimized conditions, which were combinations current feeding speed as 350A 7.5m/min, 400A 5m/min, 450A 500A derived avoid presence molten metal precedence, achieved welded joints possessing adequate properties strength toughness.
