Evaluation of Agrobiodiversity and Cover Crop Adoption in Southern Ontario Field Crops

Incorporating cover crops into corn and soybean operations across Southern Ontario is essential for maintaining yields under environmental stressors. Unfortunately, amongst the literature, there a concern about low adoption rate of in northern Corn Belt due to shift toward agrobiodiversity dominance more profitable cropping systems, encouraged by extensive use fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides. This study examines whether following suit decreasing trends, at county level, within using digital imagery from 2013 2018. Results reveal that indeed shifting systems characterized higher dominated with corn, soybean, hay. Despite benefits crops, this reveals most current are not incorporating rotation. More significantly, apparent southwestern Ontario, increases occur north.
