Abstract Due to recent advances in the field of broadband aerodynamic noise, tonalities wind turbines (WT) are increasingly coming into focus industry. In this case, structure is excited inside drivetrain and structure-borne sound propagates through machinery ultimately surfaces WT, where it radiated ambient air. Since any a system characteristic, they should be considered at an early stage product development. On one hand, great efforts being made develop ever lower-toned drivetrains. other can efficiently neutralised by systematically decoupling excitations from sound-emitting turbine. addition well-studied behaviour regarding non-torque rotor loads drivetrain, paper influence low speed (LSS) coupling on propagation integrated investigated. previous study Center for Wind Power Drives, could shown that transfer paths main shaft subsequently bearing becomes dominant path.
