Evaluating the Suitability of Multi-Scale Terrain Attribute Calculation Approaches for Seabed Mapping Applications

چکیده
The scale dependence of benthic terrain attributes is well-accepted, and multi-scale methods are increasingly applied for habitat mapping. There are, however, multiple ways to calculate at scales, the suitability these approaches depends on purpose analysis data characteristics. currently few guidelines establishing appropriateness raster calculation specific mapping applications. First, we identify three common purposes calculating scales mapping: (i) characterizing scale-specific features, (ii) reducing artefacts errors, (iii) mischaracterization ground-truth due inaccurate sample positioning. We then define criteria that should fulfill address purposes. At two study sites, five attributes, including measures orientation, relative position, variability, slope, rugosity were calculated using four compare Results suggested better suited certain tasks. A transferable parameter, termed ‘analysis distance’, was necessary different approaches, emphasize utility such a parameter facilitating generalized comparison across methods, scales.

The Use of Multi-beam Radarsat-1 for Terrain Mapping
Multi-beam RADARSAT-1 satellite imagery has been used as part of a regional terrain mapping program in northern Alberta, Canada. Principal components analysis (PCA) has been applied to ascending and descending standard beam modes with incidence angles of 20-27o (S1) and 45-49o (S7). The resulting components yield imagery that highlights geomorphology, geologic structure, variation in vegetation...

متن کاملAutomated Inversion of Attribute Mapping Expressions for Multi-Model Consistency
Because keeping two models synchronized in a multi-view modeling scenario is a tedious and error-prone task, bidirectional model transformation approaches have been developed to automatically ensure model consistency. Many existing approaches focus on the synchronization of structural aspects, i.e. creating and deleting corresponding meta class instances as well as creating, updating and deleti...

Metrics for Evaluating Survivability in Dynamic Multi- Attribute Tradespace Exploration
Survivability engineering is critical for minimizing the impact of disturbances to the operation of space systems. To improve the evaluation of survivability during conceptual design, metrics are proposed for the assessment of survivability as a dynamic, continuous, and path-dependent system property. Two of these metrics, time-weighted average utility loss and threshold availability, are then ...
