Evaluating the Drainage Density Characteristics on Climate and Drainage Area Using LiDAR Data

چکیده
The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship between drainage density and climate, as represented by climate aridity index, understand area. A total 121 sites with low human impact, a wide range index 0.3 (humid)–10.4 (arid), were selected based on availability light detection ranging (LiDAR) data, producing digital elevation model (DEM) spatial resolution 1 m. curvature-based method, incorporating both positive negative curvature information, was used extract valley (drainage) network from LiDAR-based DEMs. Drainage exhibited monotonically increasing trend, contrary previous results that have shown U-shaped relationship. This discrepancy caused selection watersheds extensive activity in study. One-meter DEM produced greater than studies coarse 30 m small valleys are not detectable low-resolution topography datasets. current encouraged further investigation impact area (watershed size). correlation reconfirmed, while stronger decreasing trend observed arid regions humid regions.

Application of LiDAR Data for Hydrologic Assessments of Low-Gradient Coastal Watershed Drainage Characteristics
Documenting the recovery of hydrologic functions following perturbations of a landscape/watershed is important to address issues associated with land use change and ecosystem restoration. High resolution LiDAR data for the USDA Forest Service Santee Experimental Forest in coastal South Carolina, USA was used to delineate the remnant historical water management structures within the watersheds s...
متن کاملPleural drainage: an evolving area
I read with interest the paper by Singh and coworkers on the subject of pleural drainage [1]. In the respiratory field, this is a hot topic and guidelines were recently published [2]. Singh and coworkers used a 16-French gauge catheter, which is broadly in agreement with the British Thoracic Society guidelines (and this is what we sometimes use in our hospital). However, the British Thoracic So...
متن کاملHillslope Processes, Drainage Density, and Landscape Morphology
Catchment morphology and drainage density are strongly influenced by hillslope processes. The consequences of several different hillslope process laws are explored in a series of experiments with a numerical model of drainage basin evolution. Five different models are considered , including a simple diffusive-advective process transition, a runoff-generation threshold, an erosion threshold, and...
متن کاملSource Areas, Drainage Density, and Channel Initiation
An analysis of channel head locations provides insight into controls on drainage density, the response of landscapes to climatic change, and the delineation of source areas for channel network simulations. Channel heads and colluvial deposits were mapped in a roughly 2 km 2 area near San Francisco, California, and, although channel heads are located within colluvial deposits in hollows, many su...
متن کاملPleural drainage: an evolving area – authors' response
We would like to comment on the use of ultrasound (USS)guided drainage of the pleural cavity. The technique we have described is a cheaper and less traumatic alternative to the use of bigger bore chest tubes. It is, however, not meant as an alternative for situations where USS guidance is needed, such as in difficult patient anatomy or in the drainage of loculated effusions. As Kelly has pointe...
