Evaluating the applicability of conventional CPT-based liquefaction assessment procedures to reclaimed gravelly soils

چکیده

Gravelly soils are not well represented in current semi-empirical liquefaction procedures, which raises the question of whether state-of-the-practice evaluation methods based on sands applicable to gravelly soils. This paper investigates applicability Cone Penetration Test triggering and settlement procedures case histories well-graded reclaimed soil at CentrePort, New Zealand. Sensitivity studies analysis show uncertainty cyclic demand is larger than resistance within a critical layer. However, modelling over entire depth fill for resistance, can vary by 50% due single material-characterization parameter, i.e., fines content or behavior type index. Sand-based liquefaction-induced found be generally gravels that have dominant silty sand fraction matrix, though they overestimate relative density therefore underestimate post-liquefaction The emphasizes importance composition, its effects packing, penetration context procedures.

CPT-based evaluation of liquefaction potential for fine- grained soils

Recent ground failure case histories after 1994 Northridge, 1999 Kocaeli and 1999 Chi-Chi earthquakes revealed that low-plasticity silt-clay mixtures generate significant cyclic pore pressures and can exhibit a strain-softening response, which may cause significant damage to overlying structural systems. In this study, results of cyclic tests performed on undisturbed specimens of ML, CL, MH and...

assessment of the efficiency of s.p.g.c refineries using network dea

data envelopment analysis (dea) is a powerful tool for measuring relative efficiency of organizational units referred to as decision making units (dmus). in most cases dmus have network structures with internal linking activities. traditional dea models, however, consider dmus as black boxes with no regard to their linking activities and therefore do not provide decision makers with the reasons...

Evaluation of liquefaction potential based on CPT results using C4.5 decision tree

The prediction of liquefaction potential of soil due to an earthquake is an essential task in Civil Engineering. The decision tree is a tree structure consisting of internal and terminal nodes which process the data to ultimately yield a classification. C4.5 is a known algorithm widely used to design decision trees. In this algorithm, a pruning process is carried out to solve the problem of the...
