Evaluating earthquake-induced widespread slope failure hazards using an AHP-GIS combination

چکیده

Abstract Landslides and slope failures are often caused by earthquakes. This study proposes a method to map earthquake-induced failure hazards that uses the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) geographic information system (GIS) for four districts where many were induced earthquakes (the 2018 Hokkaido Eastern Iburi, 2016 Kumamoto, 2008 Iwate-Miyagi Nairiku, 2004 Mid Niigata Prefecture earthquakes). The assessment system, which was based on National Research Institute Earth Science Disaster Resilience landslide distribution maps, analyzed using methods of previously published. We considered relationships between distributions hazard factors (elevation, angle, type, catchment degree, geology, vegetation). These utilized pairwise comparisons in AHP analysis. degree exerted highest effects districts. highly consistent with rank. results provide practical evaluating slope-failure hazards.

A GIS System Development for Evaluating 3D Slope Stability

When using a 3D deterministic model to evaluate the landslide susceptibility of regional area, processing large amounts of spatial data and identifying the objective for applying the deterministic model would be arduous works. In this research, an enhanced hydrology tool is developed to automatically identify the objectives of research, which are called slope units, from terrain raster data. A ...

Evaluating Ecological Vulnerability Using the GIS and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) Method in Yan’an, China

The degraded ecosystem in the Loess Plateau region of China is very vulnerable, which has a great impact on regional sustainable development. Taking the Loess Plateau of Yan’an, Shaanxi province, China, as the study area, this study quantitatively evaluated conditions of the ecological environment. Based on natural factors, environmental factors, and socio-economic factors of Yan’an in 1997, 20...

Simplified Procedures for Estimating Earthquake- Induced Deviatoric Slope Displacements

Simplified procedures are commonly employed to estimate seismic displacements of earth and waste fills. The landmark work of Makdisi and Seed (1978) has been widely adopted in practice. Although this work is widely used, it has a number of significant limitations such as decoupling the sliding block analysis from the seismic response analysis, use of a limited number of recorded earthquake moti...

AHP-Based Classifier Combination

Classifier combinations are effective techniques for difficult pattern recognition problems such as speech recognition where the combination of differently trained classifiers can produce a more robust phoneme classification on noisy datasets. In this paper we investigate traditional linear combination schemes (e.g. arithmetic mean and least squares methods), and propose a new combiner based on...
