European Economic impacts of cutting energy imports from Russia: A computable general equilibrium analysis
نویسندگان
چکیده
The recent economic sanctions against Russia can jeopardise the sustainability of European Union’s (EU) energy supply. Despite EU’s strong commitment to stringent abatement targets, fossil fuels still play a significant role in EU policy. Furthermore, high dependency on Russian supplies underlines vulnerability security. Using global computable general equilibrium model, we prove that current embargo coal and oil imported from will have adverse supply effects, substantially increasing prices welfare costs for resident. Although it reduces emissions, extending include natural gas doubles this cost. use is likely increase, especially with respect electricity generation, given constraints additional import capacities non-Russian producers. impact once extends less substantial than EU. cost increase 50%, indicating restriction boycott costly policy option.

In this letter, we apply an extended environmental dynamic computable general equilibrium model to assess the economic consequences of implementing a total emission control policy. On the basis of emission levels in 2007, we simulate different emission reduction scenarios, ranging from 20 to 50% emission reduction, up to the year 2020. The results indicate that a modest total emission reduction...

This study investigates the economic effects of taxes on pollutants in Iran in 2011. For this purpose, computable general equilibrium model with 2011 social accounting matrix is applied. Six scenarios taxes on pollutants have defined and estimatethe effects on economic variables and production quantity of activities. The results show that the taxes on pollutants is conducive to environmental im...
