چکیده

Eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) is a vegetable that holds high economic and nutritional value renowned for its distinct shape, color flavor. There has been considerable focus on enhancing the genetic makeup of eggplant, with specific attention given to breeding better agronomic characteristics. However, crop suffers from narrow base. As part efforts broaden gene pool chemical mutagenesis approach employed, aimed generate eggplant genotypes distinctive Altogether 180 seeds cultivar, Surya was treated EMS at 0.7% v/v concentration. In development M2 generation, members 16 families were inspected phenotypic variation. Notable variations observed in traits such as plant height, leaf, flower fruit morphologies. Furthermore, subset mutants selected screen any DNA alterations few targeted genes belonging Flowering Locus T/Terminal Flower 1 (FT/TFL1) family, via amplicon sequencing performed using Pacbio RSII. A mutant sample discovered carry heterozygous mutation upstream region coding sequence one those particular genes. Taken together, developed here represent valuable resources can be explored functional analysis future programs eggplant.

Agrobacterium Mediated Genetic Transformation of Eggplant (Solanum Melongena L.)

An efficient variety-independent method for producing transgenic eggplants (Solanum melongena L.) via Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated genetic transformation was developed. Two weeks old cotyledon explants were transformed by co-cultivation with Agrobacterium tumefaciens strain LBA4404 harboring a binary vector pVDH65 carrying the reporter gene β-glucuronidase intron (GUS-INT) and the marker ...

GENETIC DIVERGENCE ANALYSIS IN EGGPLANT ( Solanum melongena L . )

Genetic divergence among 19 eggplant genotypes was estimated using Mahalanobis’s D statistic. Altogether five clusters were formed. Cluster I contained the highest number of genotypes (7) and cluster IV and V contained the lowest (2). The pattern of distribution of genotypes from different geographical locations into five clusters was random, demonstrating that geographical isolation may not be...

Mapping Quantitative Trait Loci Affecting Biochemical and Morphological Fruit Properties in Eggplant (Solanum melongena L.)

Eggplant berries are a source of health-promoting metabolites including antioxidant and nutraceutical compounds, mainly anthocyanins and chlorogenic acid; however, they also contain some anti-nutritional compounds such as steroidal glycoalkaloids (SGA) and saponins, which are responsible for the bitter taste of the flesh and with potential toxic effects on humans. Up to now, Quantitative Trait ...

PLANT REGENERATION IN EGGPLANT (Solanum melongena L.) A REVIEW

Eggplant is highly responsive to various tissue culture techniques. Somatic embryogenesis and direct organogenesis are widely studied protocols in this crop, but potential of regeneration varies with genotype, explant and culture media supplemented with different combination and concentration of growth hormones. The genotype is the most important factor affecting somatic embryogenesis and organ...

Molecular diversity analysis of eggplant (Solanum melongena) genetic resources.

Eggplant (Solanum melongena), a vegetable that is cultivated worldwide, is of considerable importance to agriculture in China. We analyzed the diversity of this plant using inter-simple sequence repeat (ISSR) and RAPD procedures to subdivide 143 Chinese-cultivated eggplants based on coefficient of parentage, genetic diversity index (GDI) and canonical discriminant analysis. ISSR markers were mo...
