Ethanolic Artichoke Extract improves outcome in a rodent model of 5- Fluorouracil Induced Cardio toxicity

Background: During treatment, many drugs may become cause of cardiac system toxicity, cytotoxic therapy including 5- Fluorouracil (5- FU). It is regarded as antimetabolite which its toxic effects during S phase the cell cycle and got activation by conversion thymidine phosphorylase into fluorodeoxyuridylate (5 fluoro 2'deoxyuridine 5'monophosphate, 5-FdUMP) inhibition thymidylate synthase, ultimately prevention synthesis DNA. Aim: To focus on evaluation ethanolic artichoke extract (Cynara scolymus L) with respect to cardio protective properties against 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) induced cardio-toxicity in rabbits estimation Alanine aminotransferase, creatine kinase aspartate aminotransferase enzymes serum. Methods: 4 groups consisting 8 each were made for collected 32 who albinos. Group I: (negative control) administered dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) (2 ml/kg /day) orally daily basis duration 10 days. II: (positive DMSO via oral route days subsequently received dose 5-FU (150 mg/kg) (single) intraperitoneal injection, day 8th connection DMSO. Groups III: (200 mg/kg/day) IV: single day. Results: Before intoxication 5-FU, treatment note worthily reduces increase serum levels AST,CK & ALT due toxicity 5-FU- case . Conclusions: With present scenario, extracts serve powerful modulator reducing or masking induction rabbits. Keywords: Artichoke Extract, Induced Cardio Ethanolic
